Privacy and your data

The short version: the questionnaire keeps nothing. Nothing you answer is saved, stored, or sent anywhere, and every visit starts blank. The only way anything reaches us is if you choose to write to us.

Who runs this site

Find Your HRT is independently run in the UK. It is not a company, and it is not backed by one: it is free, has no adverts, no sponsors, and nothing is sold on it. There is no commercial interest in your data because there is no commercial interest in anything here.

To get in touch about anything in this notice, including any request about your data, use the feedback form on the site. It goes to a dedicated inbox that we read. If you would like a reply, include an email address in your message.

The questionnaire stores nothing

Everything you enter into the questionnaire, including your answers about symptoms, age, and health history, stays in your browser's memory for that visit only. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else, never written to a database, and never saved to your device. Closing or refreshing the page erases it.

This means we cannot see your answers, cannot recover them, and cannot connect them to you. It also means there is nothing for us to delete on request, because nothing was ever kept.

If you use the "print or save as PDF" summary, that document is produced inside your own browser and goes only where you send it.

The feedback form

The feedback form exists so you can tell us something is wrong, unclear, or missing. It is a way of contacting us, not a way of collecting information about you.

It sends only the title and message you type. It does not attach your questionnaire answers, and it does not ask for your name or email address. If you want a reply, you can include your contact details in the message, but that is entirely your choice and the form works without them.

To be straightforward about what happens to what you write:

• The message is delivered by a third-party service, EmailJS, which passes it to our inbox.
• It then sits in that inbox like any other email until we have dealt with it and deleted it.
• If you choose to include personal details in the message, those details are in that email too. That is the one route by which personal information can reach us, and only because you decided to send it.

Lawful basis. Where a message does contain personal details, the lawful basis for handling it is legitimate interests: responding to someone who has deliberately contacted us and asked to be responded to.

How long it is kept. Feedback is deleted once it has been read and acted on. Anything containing personal details is deleted once the exchange is finished.

Hosting, security and analytics

Like every website, this one cannot be delivered to you without some technical processing:

• Cloudflare sits in front of the site to serve it quickly and to block malicious traffic. To do that it processes visitors' IP addresses and basic request information. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
• Cloudflare Web Analytics gives us aggregate figures such as how many people visited a page. It is privacy-focused and does not use cookies, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not track people across sites or build profiles. We see totals, never individuals.
• GitHub Pages hosts the site's files. See GitHub's privacy statement.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own, and the analytics are cookieless. That is why you are not being asked to accept a cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.

Links to other sites

There are links to NHS, NICE, the British Menopause Society, Women's Health Concern and similar organisations. Once you follow a link you are on their site, under their privacy policy, not this one.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have rights over personal data about you, including to access it, correct it, or have it deleted. In practice there is usually nothing to exercise them against here, because the questionnaire keeps nothing and the only data that exists is an email you chose to send. If you have sent us something and want it deleted, tell us through the feedback form and we will delete it.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office.

Children

This site is written for adults considering or taking HRT and for the clinicians they see. It is not aimed at children.

Changes

If how this works ever changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top is updated.
